Serpentine Pavilion

Transparency
This clear ETFE ceiling seals the interior dome of the Serpentine Pavilion. The ceiling and Pavilion balloon were engineered, fabricated and installed by Hightex during May and June of 2006.
A clear hole in the top of the balloon would have made this view even more fascinating.

ETFE (Ethylene Tetra Fluoro Ethylene) is a fluorocarbon-based polymer

Vector Foiltec, based in Brick Lane, London, produces Texlon ETFE and were involved in cladding the Eden Project building in Cornwall, and the Darwin Centre at the Natural History Museum in London.
